SLD to stop funding Ogórek campaign

The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) will not give any more money to the presidential campaign of their candidate, Magdalena Ogórek.

SLD to stop funding Ogórek campaign

The party argues that all funds which were promised to the candidate have already been transferred.
Politicians from other parties do not believe this is the real reason, and argue that the funds were stopped due to poor pre-election polls.

Ogórek’s support hovers around one-two percent, according to recent surveys.

The Secretary General of SLD Krzysztof Gawkowski says that no media speculation should be placed on the party decision to cut funds.

He said that all obligations to Magdalena Ogórek and her staff have been met. “These decisions were made two months ago,” Gawkowski said.

Civic Platform (PO) MP Iwona Śledzińska-Katarasińska said that “a frivolous campaign brings with it a frivolous excuse.”

The Presidential election has been slated for 10 May.
